Success for recent RFT Plasterer Apprentice
An RFT Plasterer has come second in a regional skills competition.
Tayla-Jayne Johnson recently competed in the CITB Regional Skillsbuild competition at Otley College and received Second Prize in the Advanced Plastering Category.
A spokesperson from Construction Training Specialists Ltd in Norwich said: “On behalf of their tutors, and the Board of Directors we are extremely proud to teach such dedicated students and look forward to watching them progress to even higher standards.”
SkillBuild, delivered by CITB, is the largest and longest running multi-trade competition in the UK for construction trainees and apprentices. A series of competitions sees the very best compete against each other to be crowned a winner in their chosen trade. As each level of competition progresses, competitors are not only tested on their technical abilities, but on their time management, character and commitment.
Tayla said: "Coming second in the competition has boosted my confidence and has also given me a great sense of achievement. It makes me happy to be recognised in a male dominated industry and has enabled me to put the word out about the opportunities which exist for female operatives/builders."
The competition was hosted nationally with 16 colleges taking part, including Easton and Otley College for East Anglia.
